The Edith Saurer Fund was founded by university professor Edith Saurer, who passed away in 2011. It annually awards one-time research scholarships of € 5,000 to € 20,000.

Researchers with a doctoral degree dedicating themselves to questions of social inequality with regard to gender, class, and culture, can apply until 31 December of each year. All submissions undergo two single-blind evaluations.

Scholarships are project-linked and can only be given out for ongoing research. More information at www.edithsaurerfonds.at

for the promotion of science and art

he Theodor Körner Fund is one of the longest-standing Austrian prizes for science and art. Since 1954, outstanding young researchers and artists have been honored every year, among them many prominent researchers and even two later presidents. The current prize money is € 5,000.

The prize is awarded in three art categories and one inter-disciplinary science category. Artistic submissions are not restricted in their subjects, scientific submissions must follow a call for applications.

    Internships

The Institute for Historical Social Research awards three-month research assistantships to outstanding students of history and archival sciences.

Applicants must have completed a BA degree programme, ideally they are in the second half of their Master's degree programme or already doing their doctorate.

Research assistants will be involved in ongoing projects at the Institute. In addition, it is possible to develop or pursue your own research projects, for example for final theses. In this case, a corresponding draft must be enclosed with the application. Students whose interests lie in the fields of social and economic history, the history of the labour movement and contemporary Austrian history since 1848 are particularly encouraged to apply. If desired, Institute staff will also support the development of relevant research designs.

The legal framework for the assistantship is a temporary full-time employment relationship for training purposes with corresponding remuneration (about € 1,000 per month). Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

Applications can be submitted at any time by post to the Institute for Historical Social Research, Prinz-Eugen-Str. 20-22, 1040 Vienna, or by email to office@ihsf.at, enclosing a letter of motivation, a CV, references and, if applicable, an outline of the research project in a maximum length of 5,000 characters including spaces.
